Senior portrait session information:

  • Senior portraits can be taken on location (within 20 miles of Gilbert, Arizona, or an additional travel fee will apply) or at our studio.
  • Just before sundown is the preferred time of day for taking the BEST images. We typically schedule a starting time as follows:  April - September between 5:00 pm and no later than 6:30 pm.  October - March between 4:00 pm and no later than 5:30 pm.
  • Contact our office at 480-632-2285 to schedule your session.  Payment is required upon booking to reserve your date.
  • A 48-hour notice is required to reschedule.
  • All sessions include digital images with copyright release according to the packages listed above.
  • Print packages are available.

Our goal is for you to be prominent in the photo, not your clothes. We have provided the following tips on preparing for your photo shoot as well as to guide you on your wardrobe choices, but these are your portraits and you are encouraged to let your personality shine!

Wardrobe tips for outstanding senior portraits:

  • Plan ahead!  Your outfit choice(s) should fit you well and be clean and pressed (wrinkles will show up in your pictures).  Clothes that fit close to your body tend to be more flattering than baggy clothes.
  • Bring outfits on a hanger.
  • Solid colors are better than busy prints, except for white tops which tend to draw attention away from your face.
  • Darker colored pants/skirts with a lighter colored top are better than the opposite.
  • Layers are great such as a leather jacket, flannel shirt, sweater, etc.
  • Short skirts or dresses will limit your posing options.
  • Long sleeve or sleeveless tops are best as short sleeves visually cut your arm in two.
  • Be sure to try on your wardrobe choice to make sure things like undergarment straps fit correctly.
  • If you normally wear transition lenses, please be sure to bring a pair of glasses without transition lenses.
  • Keep accessories simple.

Props:

  • Athletes:  Photos in your jersey/uniform can make for great memories.  Consider bringing your entire uniform (jersey, hat, helmet, glove, cleats, etc.) and props (ball, bat, lacrosse stick, etc.).
  • Musicians:  Bring your instrument.
  • If you want your car to be in any of your senior pictures, be sure to have it washed prior to the photo shoot.
  • Pets are welcome!

Personal grooming:

  • Again, plan ahead!  To look your best, staying hydrated and getting plenty of rest a few days before your photo shoot and a good night's sleep the day before is always a good idea.
  • Haircuts are best at least five days prior to your scheduled photo shoot and definitely not the day before.
  • Make sure nails are well manicured (i.e. chipped nail polish will show in a picture). For girls, neutral nail polish options are generally better than trendy colors.
  • When wearing a sleeveless top, girls should be sure to shave underarms as stubble will show on pictures.
  • Guys should be sure to shave or trim facial hair on the day of the photo shoot.
  • Makeup:  Foundation without oil or SPF are better options as these have reflective qualities and will look shiny in photos.  Bring translucent powder and/or paper face blotters to the photo shoot to freshen up.  Use a fresh tube of mascara to avoid clumps. Keep in mind that eye shadow, blush, lotions, lip gloss, etc. with glitter or extra glossy could show up as tiny white spot or shine on photos.
  • Moisturize lips before the photo shoot and bring some type of lip balm with you.
  • Tanning:  Spray tanning right before a photo shoot is not advisable as it may photograph as orange and/or be blotchy.  Sunburns are nearly impossible to fix/retouch.  Be aware of any tan lines when making wardrobe choices.
  • Don't stress about blemishes and let Photoshop help you out in that department.
